Another blog post! I’m on a roll today! Holllla! You know how sometimes you just get in these moods to see how much you can accomplish in a day? I do. And today was one of those days. I just sat my little (or not so little! ha!) tush down at my computer and kicked some serious booty!! When I have days like today I get all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I LOVE the feeling of accomplishment. I love feeling like a personal success in my own little Courtney world. I love making myself proud! There is something just so great about knowing you are striving to become the best you can be everyday. Mmmm… sigh.

Okay enough of my babbling for now, and onto the real reason I am making this post. The following photos are of an old friend of mine and her husband. (We used to be roommates back in the day- yeyah!) Karen and Jamie were married a year ago and are actually currently celebrating their anniversary in Italy. (Soooo jealous right now of you K!!) Karen asked me to do a “newlywed” shoot of them and of course I was honored and thrilled! We headed to downtown New Orleans on a perfect evening and I totally love how their photos turned out–

Yummmmy light in in the French Quarter —

Hello Internet!! I hope you’re having a fabulous Monday! I wanted to take a break from my normal duties of editing, album designing, returning emails, orders, website building, marketing, folding clothes, bathing Mischa, etc… to blog some super cuteness!! I shot the following photos of my dear friend Sheperd’s little girls, Brooklyn & Alexa… AKA Brookie and Lexa, at the beach in Destin, Florida. These two little bleach blonde, blue-eyed girls are absolutely adorable and I had a blast taking their photos! I never get tired of their angelic faces!

This first shot of Lexa was a candid taken right as we stepped out of the vehicle to head towards the beach- it was too cute not to post!

Right off the bat, they were JUST this cute—
(that blue door was located close to a dumpster and they both kept saying, “it stinks over here” — hahaha it was cracking me up!!!)

childrensphotographer0022

They are quite the posers–

Rheana is a girl after my own heart. She LOVES pink just as much as I do!! When I realized her wedding colors were my favorite fuschia pink, I got very excited! You’ll soon see what I mean below…

Rheana and Joseph were such an adorable couple. Joseph is a country boy all the way- loves to fish and hunt, and Rheana … well, she loves pink!! So she is a girls-girl all the way, which again, I love! They balance each other out so well. Joseph is very kind-hearted and his love for Rheana was very obvious. I had a wonderful time at their wedding and it was my honor to be a part of it.

Their wedding took place at St. John the Evangelist Church and their reception was held at The Country Club of Louisiana. Everything was done during daylight which is another favorite of mine. If you were to ask me what my two favorite words in photography are I’d reply: NATURAL LIGHT — I cannot express enough to my future clients how utterly and extremely important natural lighting is when it comes to planning your wedding. If you’re going to plan an evening wedding, make sure to check what time the sun sets the month you’re getting married, and plan around that. Having your ceremony an hour before it sets is perfect. (Unless you are having a full mass… then you’ll want to plan it about and hour and a half to two before it sets.) It’s best to have light during the ceremony and still have some left over right after for those perfectly backlit portraits with your new spouse! And if you aren’t able to schedule your wedding with that particular timeline, then I always recommend a “First Look” which you can read about here.

Now back to Rheana & Joseph:

Let the pink begin. First up: pink shoes!!!

weddingphotographer00895

Seriously… I LOVE this particular shade of pink… you should see my office. This color pink is everywhere…

Getting ready…

The ceremony…

…and they’re married!

weddingphotographer00902

I dig this shot of them…

weddingphotographer00903 weddingphotographer00904

Now for some fun details… and more pink of course!! Rheana was lucky enough to not only have one amazingly fabulous cake, but she got TWO! The strawberry shortcake one was a complete surprise for Rheana from her mother!

weddingphotographer00905

Disney is where they planned their honeymoon and Joseph planned this whole table at the reception around it. HOW COOL IS HE!?! All of the candy and Disney figurines were incredibly creative. They even had cute little pink bags made so the guests could take plenty of it home. I just loved this table. And had a hard time staying away from all that deliciousness!

weddingphotographer00906

The one thing at the reception that was NOT pink… Joseph’s cake!

The first dance as husband and wife:

Something else I love- chandeliers. Loooove them!

How cute is this shot of Joseph dancing with his grandmother? I had to post it.

Little did we know Rheana had a few dance moves under her sleeve–

Then she made sure to pull her sister into it with her–

Outfit change! And then a photo op with all the pockets in the bridesmaids dresses! CUTE!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs. Joseph!

Drew and Rebecca are some of my really great friends and I was truly thrilled when they asked me to shoot their photos! We had so much fun and I’m SO PROUD of how their pictures came out and couldn’t wait to share them with you all. I had a very difficult time picking out my favorites but here they are!

We shot the pictures in the morning and the light on the beach was perfect!
