From the moment I met Brittany, we clicked. I knew this girl was amazing inside and out and I couldn’t wait to work with her and Jordan. I could tell that we shared the same passion for life and people and it only made me anxious to get to know her more. She told me that they were having a small and intimate ceremony and reception with a few friends and family but that the most important thing to her was getting amazing pictures. She asked my opinion and advice on what time everything should start so that we could get the best lighting. (I love her!) We worked together and everything turned out PERFECTLY. I can’t stress enough how important lighting is. LIGHTING.IS.EVERYTHING. Keep that in mind when booking your location because it truly plays a huge role in the end.

After spending some time with Brittany and Jordan shooting their engagement photos over a month ago, I grew to adore them more. Brittany’s adorable, full-of-life personality is the perfect match for Jordan’s shy and laid back demeanor. I know without a doubt in my heart that these two are a match made in Heaven. The intimate ceremony was nothing short of amazing. It was so moving that many of the guests shed a tear or two and even I almost got choked up! There was so much love and passion in that room that I honestly thought the roof was going to burst open. I can’t express enough how inspiring that kind of love is to me. Like I’ve said before, every single one of my couples inspire me in different ways and Brittany and Jordan were another fine example of where I draw my deepest inspiration.

Thank you Brittany and Jordan for giving me the enormous honor of sharing this special day in your lives. Thank you for inspiring me. Thank you for loving God and each other. Never stop.

Please enjoy the photos:

I have SO many favorites from this wedding so I’ll start with two of them. Chandeliers and the wedding dress. We all know my obvious love for chandeliers, but I absolutely loooooved her dress. It was definitely one of my favorites I’ve seen yet.

Favorite #3… the chapel they got married in is very small and intimate (which I actually quite adored), and they added several different size white candles at the altar to give an even more romantic feel. I thought this idea was totally genius and really adds to everything. I recently saw another wedding photo someone else took where the couple had adorned the entire sides of the main aisle of the church with candles and white rose petals. It was gorgeous.

love001

Favorite #4. Brittany and Jordan ordered a photo guestbook for their guests to sign with images from their engagement shoot. Photo guestbooks are the perfect way to show off your engagement pictures and make for a really great memory book to look back on!

The gorgeous bride preparing to see the love of her life.

Favorite #5. In my personal opinion, dark shiny floors photograph the best. Whether it’s at your reception or indoor ceremony location, keep that in mind when choosing locations. I just think they look so classy and the reflections from all the light make the pictures look awesome.

love008

Michael captured this shot of the guys saying a prayer over Jordan right before the ceremony.

love009

He also took this shot of Brittany right before as well and I just LOVE it.

love010 love011

See how awesome that dark shiny floor looks?

love012

I am pretty sure I saw Jordan’s eyes getting misty.

love013

Favorite #6. LIGHT!!! I absolutely LOVED the light that was pouring into this church. I didn’t use a flash the entire ceremony… or the entire event for that matter. I can’t tell you how much I love love loved not having to use my flash. Natural light makes photos 12,234,454 times better. Yes, that many times exactly.

love014 love015

Jordan didn’t take his eyes off of Brittany.

love016

You can see the love in her father’s eyes as he gives her away.

love017 love018

This is a couple truly in love. Let me also take a moment again to point out the amazing light I had. A flash just would never allow me to capture this kind of ambiance.

love019 love020

Brittany, you are gorgeous!!!!

love022 love023 love024

I love the moment RIGHT before they touch lips.

love025

Don’t those candles look good behind them?

love026

Love this!

love027

As soon as the ceremony was over we hopped in a car and headed to the reception location to shoot the newlyweds.

love029

The light outside was heavenly.

love028

Michael took this shot – there is something I just absolutely love about it.

love030

Favorite #7. Time of day. Like I said earlier, Brittany allowed me to help her plan all of the timing for the events of the day including what time the ceremony started so that we would have the perfect lighting throughout the whole day for everything. She wanted to be sure her pictures looked amazing and so because she let me help her plan, we were able to get pictures like this:

love031 love032 love033

I loved Brittany’s Mantilla style veil.

One of my favorites:

love037 love036

America’s Next Top Model couple anyone?

love038 love039 love040

Just look how amazing the right time of day can make your family portraits look.

love041 love042

Favorite #8. I LOVED that the bridesmaids all wore a different styled dress. Loved it.

love043

The bridesmaid to the right of Brittany (her left) is another one of my fabulous brides who is getting married this summer! Can’t wait!

love044

Ashley Toman was their harpist for the ceremony and she is incredible. I’ve worked with her before at another wedding and was just as impressed with her talent then. She is amazing and incredibly sweet, check her out!

love045 love046

Don’t pictures like this make you love LOVE even more?

love047

Michael took this final shot of the day and I think it is perfect. The moon was full, the couple was in love and everything was as it should be. The end.

Even after the celebration of the wedding from the night before, John and Keri were complete sports and woke up before dawn to get ready for their trash the dress shoot we did early in the morning. It’s rare in Jamaica that it’s not sunny but we ended up only seeing the sun for 1 minute while driving to our location before it went behind the clouds for the rest of the shoot. But I actually quite love the mood it set for the pictures. We went to a few spots in Negril that Michael and I had scouted out the day before and had an awesome time. It was super windy and the waters were really rough but that wasn’t about to stop these two adventure seekers. I absolutely love it when my clients are up for anything and John and Keri are another example of that radness. Below are a few of my favorites!

One of my favorite things about Jamaica: there are always beautiful flowers!

negril0007

I adoorrrre the tenderness in this one that Michael got.  It’s so obvious John loves Keri to the core.

How flippin cool is this spot? Random abandoned building? YES PLEASE.

Final shot of the day. There is nothing that says “cool” more than being willing to get in the water with your wedding dress!

Thanks again Keri and John for everything!!! xoxo

Mikey and I had the amazing opportunity to photograph a wedding in Negril, Jamaica last summer. It was our first time there and we fell in LOVE with the island, the people, the culture, everything. We made memories, new friends and had so much fun. We knew we would be back again but had no idea that we would be able to go back as soon as we did. When Keri contacted me from Philadelphia last year to book her wedding in Negril, I was THRILLED. No, WE were thrilled. Not only were we going to get to go back to this amazing place, but we were going to make new friends again and in one of our favorite places in the world! We have been itching to shoot their wedding for months and were so pumped the day had finally arrived to pack our bags and head down to the land of NO WORRIES. (That’s no joke, there are literally no worries in Jamaica – one of the many reasons everyone should escape there from time to time.) Their wedding took place on February 13th, one day before Valentine’s. The sun was shining, the water was beautiful and the bride and groom were perfect. After dating 8 years, the day every girl dreams about was finally here and Keri was radiant! The whole event went perfectly and it’s safe to say that it was everything she wanted and more. Along with their adorable son Justin, John and Keri’s close friends and family were there to celebrate their union and it was nothing short of a blissful party. Michael and I are so incredibly honored that we were invited to be a part of this amazing memory and there are truly no words to say “thank you”. Keri + John, we adore you both. Thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts for giving us this amazing opportunity. We had so much fun and your wedding will be an event we never forget. We hope to see you both again very soon!

I looooved Keri’s headpiece. How gorgeous is that?

I adored every part of her dress, especially the detailing in the front.

John and Keri decided to see each other right before the ceremony – which as you know, I HEART in a big way. Michael captured this shot of Keri approaching.

…no, fo real. I always go on and on about my wonderful brides, cause trust me, they are all AH-mazing!! But in this post I’d just like to point out how flippin’ rad all of my grooms are. They are all so much fun, so kind and so easy to work with. Below is a prime example of how cool one of them is.

I’d like to share part of a recent letter (yes, an actual letter!) I received from one of my wonderful grooms who’s wedding is this upcoming June.

Hi Courtney!
…June is just around the corner. Jennifer and I have been busy getting everything lined up. With all of the stress of planning a wedding and all the unknowns it is so wonderful to know we love our photographer. Of all the things we have been excited about I think the pictures have brought us the most joy. We know based on the engagement session that we are going to have some awesome pictures from our wedding, memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. From my perspective what you do is a ministry. God has given you a talent for capturing a person’s heart and personality in photographs. The way you love what you do with all your heart brings joy and confidence to what can otherwise be a stressful day for a nervous bride and groom. We are so glad to have you as part of our special day.

-James
The Luckiest Man Alive!

Um, what did I tell you?? RADDEST GROOMS EVER!! I love them all! Someone please pinch me and wake me up from this dream. Because there is no way I am this lucky. : )

Here is a photo from Jennifer and James’ engagement shoot we shot last fall. I cannot wait for their wedding this summer! Thanks so much James for the awesome words of encouragement. I feel just as blessed as you to have you both in my lives!

I am so blessed. I get to wake up every day and do what I love… again and again. I get to do it with my best friend and love of my life. Every day is like a dream that gets better and better. In this very moment I am so happy that God loves me this much. I am so unworthy of his grace. I would be nothing without Him. I know I didn’t do anything to deserve what I’ve been given, but I am thrilled beyond imagination about everything in my life… even the little things. I am so happy.

When Amanda first called me from Atlanta, I knew we were going to get along. We planned and booked everything over the phone and it wasn’t until the day of the engagement shoot that I met her or Danny face to face. After about 5 minutes, it was confirmed that I was right! Not only was Amanda super rockin’ awesome, but so was Danny! They were both extremely laid back and completely adorable together and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day or couple. We had SO much fun and I absolutely cannot wait to shoot their wedding later this fall!! I can’t get enough of either of them! Check out some of my favorites from their shoot:

I think they may secretly be models and they didn’t want to intimidate me by telling me because um hello:

Again with the modeling: Don’t they look like they belong in a magazine?

ripvanwinkle006 ripvanwinkle007

Amanda – you are so stinkin beautiful! Can I have your eyes pretty please?

I know that you probably think the life of a photographer is super glamorous all of the time… but most of the time you will find me in a ponytail, sweatpants and chuck taylor shoes, no makeup on and sitting behind my computer. I like to be comfortable when I work and although sometimes I miss having a reason to wear pencil skirts and high heels, I wouldn’t trade my job for the world! I love that I can wear what I want, work when I want, go where I want and do whatever I want whenever I want! I even get to work with my best friend and what girl could ask for more? So even though my life may not be super glamorous, it is absolutely perfect to me and I wouldn’t wish it any other way.

If you were to walk into my office at any moment this is most likely how you would find Michael and I:

mikeyandme02But actually the following image is probably a little more accurate – especially when Mikey figures out that I am taking pictures of us. You see what I have to put up with?
