So a while back I announced that I was looking for some part time help because I could no longer handle it all on my own. Well, I am excited to say… I found the perfect person! Meet Deirdre. (Pronounced Deerdra.) She is SUPER awesome and we have been having so much fun around here already. I am so excited because she is not only going to help keep me organized (and also help me get my personal life back!!), but I know she is going to add to the business with her passion for life.  She was a bride of mine before she was my assistant so I have known her for a year and half now. (See her wedding photos here and her cute save the date idea here.)  I am so thrilled she wanted to be a part of my world and I just know she is going to add SO much to my business. I couldn’t be more excited about Deirdre. : )

I asked her to share a little a bit about herself below.

1. Describe yourself in 5 words.
Ambitious, Honest, Loyal, Cheerful, Sarcastic

2. What are you most excited about by working for Courtney?
Hmmmm…. How much time do we have? Ha! First thing that comes to mind is being able to work with people during the happiest moments of their lives! Their happiness is contagious! It such a great feeling knowing that you are creating something they will cherish for many years to come. Also, knowing that you have made boudior clients realize their how beautiful they REALLY are. Every woman has insecurities, but its amazing to help them overcome those by capturing their true beauty.

3. You have been working for 3 weeks here….. Love it or hate it so far?
Are you kidding? LOVE IT! This is the kind of job that others are jealous I have and every girl dreams of. Super fun, girly atmosphere, laid back and anything BUT BORING! Every day is a little different, and I can not wait to see what the future holds.

4. Favorite song right now?
Airplanes by BOB

5. You were a bride/ client before you were hired…. how was your experience with Courtney as your photographer?
I had Courtney do my engagement pictures when she first started her business as sort of a trial run to make sure she was the real deal. When I got them back, I was AMAZED! I immediately booked her for my wedding. During the course of the year of planning for the big day, we remained in touch about different aspects I found important to capture on our wedding day. By the time the big day came, she was more than just my wedding photographer. She actually took the time to get to know Duston and I so that she was able to connect with us and show our true love for one another. My biggest advice to any bride out there coming from a bride: Most people have budget restraints that may make it hard to plan your wedding, WHATEVER you do, DO NOT sacrifice a great photographer because when the big day is over (which goes by in a blink of an eye) the ONLY thing you have to hold onto is your pictures from the day. I LOVE my pictures (thanks to Courtney) and will cherish them for years and years to come!

6.  Name one thing off of your bucket list…..
Backpacking through Europe!!

7. Favorite Food:
Sushi & Frozen Yogurt

8. Vices:

Mochasippi’s from CC’s, Wine, and Cookies

9. Vacation Spot:

In the country: Miami   Abroad: Italy

10.  If you were on a stranded island what 3 things would you bring with you:

My husband Duston, he would make sure I was safe and fed, ha!, Cupcake (our dog I can’t live without her), a ponytail holder

deer

Yay! Be on the lookout for more from her in the future!

Wow. SO much has been going on around here and I have truly loved every minute of it! My blog is certainly suffering for it but I SWEAR, I will soon be on a more structured routine as I have recently hired an assistant! She is super fabulous and I will be introducing her to you very soon. Along with shooting weddings, preparing for the studio opening in two weeks and SO MUCH more, life has been BUSY. But I am not complaining ONE BIT because I truly love it all. I am so blessed and I am SO grateful to God for the amazing love He shows me every single day.

I have so many things to blog but for now here is a sneak peak of the weddings that are coming up next on the blog… Happy Sunday!

Where oh where shall I start with this post… Danielle and Jason are truly one of a kind. From the moment I shook their hands until the day they said “I do”, they have made me feel like a goddess… queen… princess… all in one. Every time I have spoken to either of them or been in their presence, they were always so sure to see to it that I felt special. I’m all like, “Hey wait a second! I’m the one supposed to be doing that for you!” Really though, they make me feel like I am the most amazing photographer and person in the whole world. Even though I know it’s not true, I love that they make me feel like it on a constant basis! I feel like royalty when I am around them and I’m not gonna lie, it’s an amazing feeling. I constantly feel like my heart is soaring after each wedding. I leave each one asking myself the same question each time, “Wow, how is it possible that I am this lucky? How is it that these people with beautiful hearts come into my life?” I have said this before but every one of my couples inspire me… and I mean it. Danielle and Jason are two of the sweetest, kindest and genuine people I have met. They might just be angels walking on earth. Just spending two minutes with them makes you want to be a better person. They both truly appreciate life and each other and it SHOWS big time.

The wedding day arrived and everything from beginning to end was memorable and perfect. I could go on and on about it but I will just let you enjoy the photos. Be sure to check out their engagement photos here and read just another reason why I adore these two.

Danielle and Jason, you know how I feel about you two! You’re both so amazing. Please never stop blessing the world with your beautiful hearts and outlook on life. You’re both truly inspiring! XOXO

Okay I am going to start this off with saying… be prepared to be jealous! As if Jason isn’t a nice enough guy enough in general, he definitely scored more points with me when Danielle showed me her wedding gifts from him. Gift #1… Manolo Blahniks. Um HELLO! Wait it gets better…

houmashouse002 houmashouse004

Gift #2: A key chain of different car keys so she could pick out which one she wanted when they got back from the honeymoon. I OFFICIALLY stopped liking her at that very moment. ; )

Michael captured the groom getting ready…

…while I was with the beautiful and ecstatic bride.

houmashouse010 houmashouse007 houmashouse008 houmashouse009

I love this shot Michael got of the groomsmen hanging out.

houmashouse011

They decided to see each other before the ceremony (also known as a First Look) to rid of all those nerves and share a very special and private moment between each other before getting in front of all their guests.

houmashouse012 houmashouse013

First Looks are always such amazing moments that I am SO honored to be a part of. I love witnessing love.

houmashouse014

Love this! Michael captured a tear right before it rolled down her cheek.

houmashouse015 houmashouse016

Look how happy they are!

houmashouse017 houmashouse018 houmashouse019 houmashouse021 houmashouse020 houmashouse022 houmashouse023 houmashouse024 houmashouse025 houmashouse026

Another rockin’ reason for the First Look is not only do we have time to get TONS more pictures of the bride and groom together, but the bridal party photos and sometimes the family photos can be done before hand as well! Which eliminates so much time after the ceremony for taking group photos and gets the bride and groom to the reception MUCH sooner. Danielle and Jason were able to enjoy their cocktail hour because they did the FL. I’ll say it again and again, the 2nd best decision of your wedding day (the 1st being hiring me, DUH! haha), is doing a First Look. It makes everything much less stressful.

houmashouse027 houmashouse028 houmashouse029

Houmas House was looking PERFECT as the ceremony began.

houmashouse030

This is one of my favorite photos from the day… Jason giving Danielle an adoring look as she arrived to meet him with her father.

houmashouse031 houmashouse032 houmashouse033 houmashouse034 houmashouse035 houmashouse036

This was how they were ALL night and I was loving every single minute of it.

houmashouse037 houmashouse038 houmashouse039

This photo is PRICELESS. I love their expressions!!

houmashouse040 houmashouse041 houmashouse042 houmashouse043

The couple and guests were on the dance floor the entire reception. The band, The Bucktown All Stars, ROCKED the house and never let a dull moment happen.

houmashouse044

Ah, sweet love:

houmashouse045

Even after the grand exit, everyone decided to have an impromptu party on the front lawn of Houmas House. It lasted about 15 minutes and was a complete blast. Everyone was having so much fun that no one wanted it to end.

houmashouse046

Thank you again Danielle and Jason for everything. You are beautiful!

If I had to describe Lauren and Rob in one word it would be: CLASSIC. When I first met with them they told me they wanted their wedding to be traditional, classic and holy… it was JUST that. Everything about it from beginning to end represented them so perfectly. The hotel, the church, the details, the dress, the shoes, the veil, the pearl necklace, the reception venue, everything… was so fitting for their big day. Even though it ended up raining quite heavily that day, nothing could have taken away from the happiness they shared in their hearts and excitement to become husband and wife. Lauren didn’t let the rain or anything else affect her whatsoever. She was so calm and peaceful about everything and so truly thrilled about the day. The ceremony was holy and traditional, and Rob was so in love with his bride. Everything was as it should have been and I know they will cherish that day for the rest of their lives.

Rob and Lauren, thank you so very much for inviting me into your lives and hearts. You are both so special and I hope you will hold these photos dear to your heart forever.

Please enjoy a few of my favorites below:

Lauren, you are truly, truly beautiful and classic in every way.

neworleanswedding006 neworleanswedding008

The rain held off long enough to get a couple of outdoor portraits!

neworleanswedding007 neworleanswedding012

neworleanswedding009 neworleanswedding010

I always love these shots Michael gets from the balconies of churches.

neworleanswedding018

I don’t usually post family photos from weddings, but I thought hey why not this time. : ) I can take traditional photos too!

neworleanswedding017 neworleanswedding019

Lauren knows the way into my heart… adored the chandeliers hanging from the tent at the reception!

neworleanswedding020

All of the details were SO classic and romantic.

neworleanswedding021 neworleanswedding022 neworleanswedding023 neworleanswedding024

I don’t think a smile left Lauren and Rob’s face the entire day and I loved it.

neworleanswedding025 neworleanswedding026The end of another beautiful love story! But really… only just the beginning of a new chapter. : )

Recently, The Boudoir Vixen’s fabulous hair and makeup artist and my friend Courtney Davis told me about an idea that one of her friends Ragan had. Her idea was that Courtney and a couple of their close friends should put their wedding dresses back on and take some fun pictures together. I thought the idea was absolutely genius and so we made it happen! What a FABULOUS idea for you and your girlfriends! I mean, you only get to wear your dress once anyways, so you might as well get some more use out of it! I am certain that Courtney, Ragan, Atalie and Jonelle will all appreciate these pictures for years to come. Who says you can’t have fun in your wedding dress with your best girlfriends? Enjoy a few of my favorites below of these beautiful women. Oh and if you’ll notice, there is a 5th member who was also there to participate. ; )

I think after each wedding that I shoot, I fall in love with what I do more and more. I get to work in the happiest environment because I am spending time with people on the happiest day of their lives and it’s AMAZING. The wedding industry is SO much fun and I wouldn’t trade my job for the world! Deirdre and Duston are yet another one of my incredibly awesome couples. Deirdre contacted me over a year ago to shoot their engagement photos and has been nothing but a pleasure to work with ever since. She is so passionate about life and it showed in everything she did while planning her wedding. I have been so excited to shoot their big day and was thrilled when it had finally arrived. Not only is she completely beautiful on the inside and out, she was going to be holding the festivities in one of my favorite cities… Natchez, Mississippi. The wedding took place at St Marys and the reception and prep was at Dunleith Plantation — which if you’ve been a blog follower for a while, you know that it is one of my favorite venues ever.

The day was perfect in every way and I had an amazing time sharing such beautiful memories with my beautiful clients.

Thank you Deirdre and Duston for EVERYTHING. You are both so amazing and I will forever cherish the memory of your wedding day.

Their photo guestbook: (brides, these make for an awesome way for your guests to see your engagement photos!)

Her dress was gorgeous.

I love this shot of Deirdre with her bridesmaids before everyone got dressed.

dunleithplantation0012 dunleithplantation0013

The groom patiently awaiting his bride…

dunleithplantation0014 dunleithplantation0015

Deirdre and Duston decided to do a First Look before the ceremony which is when the bride and groom see each other. I am HUGE fan of this as it not only is a super sweet and intimate moment shared by the bride and groom ONLY, but it gives us so much more time to get lots of pictures that we wouldn’t be able to get after the ceremony.

dunleithplantation0016 dunleithplantation0017 dunleithplantation0018 dunleithplantation0020 dunleithplantation0021

In this case, it was going to be almost dark outside after the ceremony was over, so we wouldn’t have had all this pretty light to work with as well.

dunleithplantation0022 dunleithplantation0024 dunleithplantation0023 dunleithplantation0025

Reason #2,235 a First Look is awesome: We get time to do all the bridal party photos before the ceremony as well… which means you get to your reception MUCH sooner. Deirdre and Duston even timed it so we were able to get ALL the family photos before hand as well. It made the day go SO SMOOTH… and on top of that no one was annoyed they were having to stay behind for group photos after the wedding cause let’s face it…. no one enjoys that part of the wedding when they know they are missing out on the cocktails and food!

dunleithplantation0026 dunleithplantation0027 dunleithplantation0028

We headed to St. Mary for the ceremony.

dunleithplantation0029

I love the next two shots Michael got.

dunleithplantation0030 dunleithplantation0031 dunleithplantation0032

Married!

dunleithplantation0033

Love this angle Michael got!

dunleithplantation0034

There was just enough light left outside to be able to get this shot as soon as they exited.

dunleithplantation0035

We headed back to Dunleith for the reception outside underneath the clear tent. I loved all the Japanese lanterns. So romantic.

dunleithplantation0036 dunleithplantation0037 dunleithplantation0038

Don’t they look so happy and in love? Yes, I do believe they are.

dunleithplantation0039

The dance floor never stopped all night. The party was a blast and I know Deirdre and Duston had the time of their lives.

dunleithplantation0040 dunleithplantation0041

After a quick outfit change (isn’t that dress a PERFECT getaway outfit??), everyone second lined out to the front to see the happy couple off…

dunleithplantation0042

I got this shot right before they made their big exit and I think it pretty much sums up the entire day: pure bliss.
