WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT?
The engagement session is a chance for you to completely be yourself and gives me the chance to get to know you and your fiance and vice versa! I am all about you incorporating YOUR style, and YOUR personality in photos. Bring a couple of different outfits to mix it up! I always suggest at least one bright colored outfit… tealish blue always photographs really great! Also a cute little dress is always fun for one of the outfits! Coordinate your colors, but not necessarily matchy-matchy. Below is a picture of a perfectly coordinated outfit! The most important thing is that you feel COMFORTABLE and beautiful in your outfit!! If you don’t, it will show! Be yourself, and you can’t go wrong. Also, props are encouraged! If you and your fiance have a hobby that you enjoy doing together… (ie. bicycling, horseback riding, tennis, playing the wii, etc), please bring whatever it is with you and I’ll incorporate it into your photos, which makes them different, fun and unique! Any ideas you have are welcome also! You can even bring your pet if you want!
WHAT IS “TRASH THE GOWN”?
It’s all about getting creative and taking some incredible pictures in your dress!
I mean why not right? You only get to wear it once. Then it’s going to get stored in your attic to never be seen again! And let’s face it, your daughter isn’t going to wear it when it comes time for her to tie the knot. You spend so much time and money trying to find the PERFECT gown, you might as well get some amazingly unique photographs out of the deal that I promise you will cherish for a lifetime! HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING PICTURES?
11 years. I picked up my first camera when I was 15, and haven’t put it down since! And if you haven’t already noticed, I love doing it!!
DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL FOR IT?
Nope! I have always done better at teaching myself things rather than going to a class. However, if you’re getting into photography, taking a class is never a bad idea! You can learn things a lot quicker that way then my way! But I don’t believe taking a class is crucial to becoming a successful photographer because I truly believe experience is what teaches you the most… in anything in life. I also was lucky enough to get hired as a professional photographer at one of the most prestige portrait photography studios in Baton Rouge, Luckett Portrait Studio. I worked there for almost 8 years and was able to learn a lot from that experience.
WHAT IS BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY?
Boudoir is something I am VERY passionate about. I believe every woman is beautiful in her own way and it’s so much fun being able to capture it in photos. Not only does it make for a GREAT gift for husbands or husbands-to-be, but you will have so much fun feeling sexy and gorgeous in this session. Every woman I have ever done a Boudoir session of, has always had such a blast! I launched a separate website and branding for my boudoir business in July 2009. It shortly after became “The Boudoir Vixen”. I am so proud of how quickly the boudoir side of my company has grown.
