Autumn + Trey : Newlywed

You may remember this beautiful couple from their engagement photos we shot a few months ago. They recently ran off to Disney and eloped! The happy couple of course wanted some fun professional photos as newlyweds so as soon as they were back from the honeymoon we made it happen!! It was a beautiful day at Houmas House Plantation and I absolutely ADORE how the photos turned out.

Liza + Lenny :: Newlywed

Have I mentioned recently how much I love doing Newlywed shoots? It’s so much fun to be able to have a couple put on their wedding attire again and have an excuse to take more photos together. Every now and then I get a request for this shoot from couples that I did not shoot their wedding. This was the case for Liza and Lenny… they were married earlier this year and because it rained on their wedding day, they didn’t get to take as many photos as they would have liked to. There is so much that cannot be controlled on a wedding day… so I think a Newlywed shoot is a great idea if you’re wanting a more fun and relaxed atmosphere and more laid back photos. I absolutely love how Liza and Lenny’s turned out. Enjoy!

Kristen contacted me recently to let me know her and her husband wanted to celebrate their 4 year wedding anniversary by taking photos with ME! I was THRILLED. She wanted to do it with her wedding attire which made it even better!! We actually did the shoot on their actual wedding anniversary too which was so sweet and flattering. I call this type of shoot a Newlywed session, but it’s a GREAT idea no matter how long it’s been since you were wed. We had so much fun with the shoot and I LOVE how the photos turned out. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Kristen and Michael, thank you SOOOOO MUCH for giving me this opportunity and for being willing to do literally anything I asked. I hope you adore your photos forever and ever! Never stop loving one another. xoxo

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from a dear friend in Peru asking me to come down to shoot his family’s portrait. Which is where I am now! I arrived late last night and will be here a couple of days. More on that later… but needless to say I won’t really have time to blog this week due to being in Peru. But I did want to at least post a couple of sneak peeks from a shoot I did last week! Can’t wait to post them all! Kristen and Michael have been married 4 years and decided to throw on their wedding attire and take some photos for their anniversary! Sheperd + Tony :: Anytime

Recently we made a quick trip to Destin, Florida for Mikey’s cousin Sheperd’s wedding reception. Tony and Shep eloped to Hawaii and decided to have a party for their closest friends and family. We all got to stay in a huge white mansion house on the beach. It was so great being there together with everyone and I only wish it hadn’t ended so soon! While we were there Shep put her dress back on and we hit the beach for some photos! I’ve known Sheppie for over 7 years – the words FABULOUS, GORGEOUS and FUN are the short and quick way to describe her. She is by far one of my greatest friends and all around an amazing woman! I only wish we lived closer so we could hang out more! When Tony came into the picture a few years back I knew they were just perfect for each other. He knows how to treat her like a princess and makes her laugh constantly. He takes care of her and EVERYONE around him. Every time we visit he is always cooking for everyone and making sure everyone feels at home. I am so lucky to know these two and so glad to have them both in the family.

Shep and Tony, I am SO happy for you both. Can’t wait to come visit again this summer! Thanks for being amazing in every way. Mikey and I love you both so much!! xoxo

Alex + Jason :: Newlywed

Every now and then my couples will put on their wedding attire again for what I like to call a “Newlywed” shoot. It’s pretty much just a chance to take more photos and in a more relaxed environment. On the wedding day there can be very limited time and light sometimes and so a Newlywed shoot is a fantastic idea if you’re looking to not only get another excuse to wear your dress, but take more pictures with your new husband!! Alex and Jason’s wedding was back in October but they live in Texas and didn’t get a chance to come visit Louisiana until this month. We only have a one day window so it was a complete blessing that the weather was perfect for them! Below are a few of my favorites from their shoot.

It’s been 6 months since they got married and yet they seem like their wedding was yesterday… still happily in love.

Okay this next photo … well, I’m not sure I can even explain it! It was definitely one of the most R.A.N.D.O.M. moments in my life. As we were walking along to find the next spot I wanted to shoot at, we all of the sudden see this random cow man at the top of the hill rolling around and “grazing”. We honestly all thought he must be drunk or crazy. It was seriously SO BIZARRE. But come to find out it was for some school video project… I’m still not sure what though. He ended up asking Alex to walk with him and I got this shot. It was so hilarious.

Final shot of the day and it’s probably my favorite too. Thank you Alex and Jason for coming to hang out with us!! Never lose that “newlywed” feeling.

Amber + Luke :: Day After/Trash The Dress {Colorado}

A “day after” trash the dress is always a challenge for the bride and groom even though I am always VERY excited about it. The sun didn’t come up until 7am but Amber and Luke wanted to go out to the area that their love first began so they barely got any sleep and still got up and looked gorgeous for the early morning shoot. A “trash the dress” or newlywed photo shoot is a great way to get even more beautiful pictures of you and your new spouse when you can relax a little more and don’t have the pressure of the wedding day events on your mind. Plus you don’t have to worry about keeping your dress spotless anymore.

We stopped at a couple beautiful spots on the side of the highway while the sun was still low and the light was perfect and ended in the snow at Estes Park near the sight of their first romance. After it was all over Amber and Luke took Mikey and I to a little breakfast place at the foot of the mountains where we got to share laughs and get to know each other better. I truly love my clients!!! Amber and Luke it has been so great getting to know you. I trust that you are having a great time in Hawaii! — jealous!!

How beautiful is this light? Mikey got this first one and I love it.

M took this one as well and it’s definitely one of my favs.

I absolutely LOVE the chemistry these two have. Luke was constantly making Amber laugh.

Once we got to Estes Park, there was tons of snow everywhere. It was so cold but SO worth it for the photos we got.

M shot this beauty: (has anyone noticed how many of his shots I am using? I should probably be worried- but I’m actually just super proud of him!)

I just love Amber’s red coat she brought. It was the perfect touch!

I suggested a snowball fight but I think Luke was cheating and grabbed armloads of snow instead of a ball of snow.

They are true sports for laying in the snow long enough to get pictures like this one.

Another blog post! I’m on a roll today! Holllla! You know how sometimes you just get in these moods to see how much you can accomplish in a day? I do. And today was one of those days. I just sat my little (or not so little! ha!) tush down at my computer and kicked some serious booty!! When I have days like today I get all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I LOVE the feeling of accomplishment. I love feeling like a personal success in my own little Courtney world. I love making myself proud! There is something just so great about knowing you are striving to become the best you can be everyday. Mmmm… sigh.

Okay enough of my babbling for now, and onto the real reason I am making this post. The following photos are of an old friend of mine and her husband. (We used to be roommates back in the day- yeyah!) Karen and Jamie were married a year ago and are actually currently celebrating their anniversary in Italy. (Soooo jealous right now of you K!!) Karen asked me to do a “newlywed” shoot of them and of course I was honored and thrilled! We headed to downtown New Orleans on a perfect evening and I totally love how their photos turned out–

Leila & Beau: Newlywed

I am going to warn you — this coming week is going to be very crazy with several shoots, projects and getting ready for Paris (more on that later). I doubt I will be able to blog as much as I would like to but I will try my hardest!

This past December I had the honor of shooting Leila and Beau’s beautiful wedding. Leila is Persian so her wedding was very special and unique. Two ceremonies (one traditional- one Persian) and one huge party for a reception. It was so much fun being a part of their special day… my favorite part (besides the beautiful couple) was all the incredible Persian music and Persian dancing!! It was SO COOL!! Leila has been an amazing bride from day one. I couldn’t possibly thank her enough for being so incredible!!
